This is a practical training day for those with elections in May 2013.The day will look at general online campaigning, editing your own website and using twitter.Group Leaders with elections in May 2013 are asked to send only one member from their group who in turn can teach the rest of the group ahead of May 2013.Attendees have a choice between 1st November (CCHQ London) or 27th November (Coleshill Manor Birmingham). The training costs just £5 and includes lunch.
The CCA is teaming up with the CCHQ Social Action Department to provide CCA members with guidance and advice on how to set up a social action project in your ward.The seminar will look at how to make Social Action work for you, setting up and promoting your own project, engaging with your ward and encouraging community spirit and best practice.To attend please e-mail cca@conservatives.com.Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

The CCA is holding a Public Speaking Course for Councillors in conjunction with The Roe Project at CCHQ, London.The training course will look at how to deliver a presentation, how to make an impact and dealing with difficult questions.Attendance costs £80 which includes a sandwich lunch and refreshment breaks. On 15 November 2012, for the first time the public across England and Wales outside London will elect a police and crime commissioner who will be accountable for how crime is tackled in their police force areas.
Following this year’s local elections, the CCA and LGA Conservative Group have set up a meeting between Conservative Council Leaders and Bob Neill MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, and Baroness Hanham, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State.This is an opportunity for you to raise any questions you may have, to learn more about local government plans for the next year, and to engage with your colleagues.
The training day will consist of a series of presentations by those with a wide experience of local government and the Conservative Party. There will be a Q&A session at the end of each presentation.Sessions include: understanding your council and your role as a cllr, dealing with the media, helping your constituents and setting up a social action project.
