Conservatives gained a seat from Labour in Bolton and held a seat in Milton Keynes. The Liberal Democrats held a seat in Rochford and Independents retained a seat in Bournemouth.

Labour held five seats and lost one, Liberal Democrats held two seats and gained one, Conservatives gained one seat in Newcastle Under Lyme and lost two, and Independents gained a seat from Conservatives in Torridge.
