Conservatives held seats in Southend-On-Sea and Sevenoaks and gained a seat from an Independent in East Lindsey.
The Liberal Democrats held seats in Essex, New Forest and Rochford and gained a seat from the Conservatives in South Somerset. Labour gained a seat from an Independent (who was originally elected as UKIP) in Sunderland.
