Labour held a seat in Neath & Port Talbot.

Liberal Democrats held a seat in Somerset.

Independents held a seat in Orkney.

There was a by-election this week.

Labour gained a seat from Conservatives in County Durham. The Liberal Democrats gained a seat from Conservatives in Surrey Heath and from Independents in Maldon. A candidate with no description gained a seat from Independents in Tewkesbury.

Once nominations have been submitted and verified, the official campaign period can be a very hectic - and at times bewildering - few weeks.
